Referee Problem Almost Solved: BFF President

There’s still about an hour left before kick-off in today’s three Premier League matches, but uncertainty continues to hang over the fixtures. Referees have threatened not to officiate due to unpaid wages. However, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal has indicated that a resolution is on the way.

This morning, the BFF executive committee met at Fortis Jalshiri, where the referees’ demands were discussed. Speaking to the media afterwards, Tabith said, “Football is a big family, and referees are a vital part of it. We respect their dedication. They often face delays in payments and still carry out their duties under difficult conditions. We are moving towards resolving the issue.”

BFF has long been criticized for neglecting referee payments, and the current committee has not significantly changed that pattern. Still, Tabith claims steps are being taken to find a permanent solution. “We want a lasting fix. Temporary solutions won’t leave a legacy if the problem keeps coming back. We’re working on both referee payments and management,” he added.

Today’s scheduled Premier League fixtures include Fortis vs. Mohammedan, Brothers Union vs. Bashundhara Kings, and Chittagong Abahani vs. Wanderers—all set to begin at 4 PM.
